Bongo’s Cuban Cafe
In the heart of Disney Springs you can find a gem in Bongo’s Cuban Café. The restaurant is part of the Disney dining plan and counts as one credit for a table-service meal. Reservations are not the most difficult to get for this restaurant, and you will certainly not regret eating here! The restaurant is owned by Gloria and Emilio Estefan and has continued to be a popular choice at Disney Springs. This restaurant is certainly family friendly and provides options for indoor and outdoor seating.
The atmosphere in the restaurant is different from many other Disney restaurants. The restaurant focuses on a music and entertainment friendly environment, all on the Cuban theme. At night, a band will play music and dancers will perform among the tables in the center of the restaurant. For a quieter dining experience, we would recommend asking to sit either upstairs or away from the “stage” where the band is and the music is played. It can be quite loud at times.
On our most recent visit, we tried the Breaded Stuffed Potatoes appetizer, and it was quite delicious! The appetizer comes with 3 very large size breaded balls of mashed potatoes with ground beef inside.
These were delicious, but they were VERY filling.
For the main part of the meal, one of the choices is the Seared Shredded Chicken. It comes with grilled onions on top, and a side of black beans and rice. They are very helpful if you do not like onions or prefer to change out beans for rice.
The chicken is delicious, and the lime certainly enhances the flavor tremendously! There is a LOT of chicken on this plate and it is very filling.
This steak was so tender and cooked perfectly as requested. Tasted as though it had been marinated for days and the chimichurri sauce provided a special flavor that enhanced the steak to near perfection.
The only downfall with Bongo’s is that you are pretty limited in side choices, as they focus on rice, vegetables, and plantains mostly. You can get an order of fries as a side as well. The menu does change from time to time, so keep this in mind if you find a favorite. There is absolutely nothing special about the rice or the beans, so the dining experience is solely based on the appetizers and main meal choices.
If you are interested in visiting Bongo’s Cuban Café while on a Disney vacation, it is certainly worth the stop. Be sure to contact one of our agents for more information about Disney destinations and vacation packages.
